Administrative Activity Information

As a DPE, I am able to process IACRA-based administrative functions. Ideally, this saves you a trip to the FSDO. Below you will find the types of activities that can be accomplished, and what information is required to complete these activities.

Administrative Activity Appointments

Appointments can be scheduled either in-person at OSU Airport, or via remote technology (Zoom). FAA Notice 8900.689 approves remote meetings for only limitation removals (SOE and ATP), CFI renewals, Military Competency, or Ground Instructor Certificates. All other administrative activities must be in-person.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

  • What weather do we need for our checkride?
    We need sufficient weather to maintain VFR for the entirety of our flight. That includes the required minimum altitude for maneuvers. Ultimately, it is your decision on weather. This decision making is part of the practical test.
  • The weather is bad, can we still do the oral?
    Unfortunately, per FAA guidance, we must plan to complete the practical test in one sitting. If we knowingly cannot fly, we are unable to start the practical test and must fully reschedule.
  • Why cant I schedule a checkride?
    In the interest of fairness, my scheduling is first come-first serve. In an effort to not get overloaded with checkrides, I only schedule 14 days in advance.
  • How do I join your waitlist?
    You can enter your information on my waitlist at www.ohiopilotexaminer.com/waitlist Although this does not guarantee you a slot, it does show me you are there and ready. When I get cancelations, I consult this list first to fill openings.
  • Can you help add/remove a limitation I have on a pilot certificate? (SOE/Restricted ATP/SIC Type)
